Second Annual Luncheon
Congressman Joe Sestak tentatively scheduled to serve as Keynote Speaker
with guest speaker, Author, Amy Ferris
The Pike County Democratic Women’s Caucus will hold its 2nd Annual Luncheon on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Woodloch Springs in Hawley. Congressman Joseph Sestak, D-PA-07, is tentatively scheduled to serve as the Keynote speaker and Amy Ferris, author of " Marrying George Clooney: Confessions from a Midlife Crisis" will be the special guest speaker. “We are excited to be able to host a luncheon for, by and about women,” said Cheryl Glenn, Chair of the PCDWC, “This year’s luncheon is in support of our Scholarship Program. Interested individuals, PIke County businesses and the Vivian Louise Anderson Glenn Foundation are contributing to a scholarship of $500.00 which will go to a Pike County graduating female senior. We are thrilled to have two speakers of such distinction ”. The scholarship will be awarded at the Pike County Post Mother's Day Brunch to be held in May. Click here for Scholarship details .
One of the features of the afternoon will be a Silent Auction organized by PCDWC Fundraising Chair, Stefania Smith. Part of the proceeds of the auction will be donated to the scholarship fund and additional funds will be presented to a Pike County Charitable organization to be announced.
The luncheon will be held on March 21st from 2:30pm-5:30pm at the Woodloch Springs Clubhouse ,731 Welcome Lake Rd. Hawley, PA. Tickets are $25 pp, $15.00pp for children under 12 years old. The PCDWC to Award
a $500 Scholarship
The 2010 Pike County Democratic Women's Caucus Young Woman's High School Scholarship program is underway. The $500.00 Scholarship will be awarded to a young woman graduating high school senior residing in Pike County. Criteria include an essay, letters of reference and letter(s) of acceptance from a college or university. The scholarship program is a joint effort between the PCDWC, the Vivian Louise Anderson Glenn Foundation, businesses and interested individuals. Cheryl Glenn, Chair of the PCDWC stated, “It’s up to all of us to do what we can to support our teachers and our children. The scholarship is our way of supporting our young people.”
